Mimi-J, thank you for your response to my sugar cravings....it is something I am just going to have to plug through. I have 50 lbs to lose and truly think that clean eating will help me achieve this goal, Especially after reading some of the success stories. Is there any way of contacting a particular person in the success stories There is a lady that has a history that fits mine to a T and would love the opportunity to interact with her..

I was a member of Crossfit (fitness studio), and they follow the Paleo diet. I tried this diet for a few months, and did lose about 15 LBS. The journey to get there, however, was not great. No Dairy, or grains resultd in constant headaches, moodiness, and massive cravings. Once I allowed myself carbs again, it was like a freight train rolled through my pantry! I felt like I had zero contorl, and gained the 15 back really fast.

I have learned from this that MODERATION is the key. Any refined carbs are obviously a poor choice, but to illiminate complete food groups is not the answer either, and is certainly not healthy

I do limit my carbs to one-two measl a day, and never at dinner. This allows my body time to use the sugar for energy, and I am not walking around tired and pissed off at the world. I have tried more diets in my 30 years that you can shake a stick at, and eating clean is the only thing that has kept my weight loss at a steady pace without me feeling deprived. I have a major sweet tooth, that is now satisfied with fruit, not ice cream :)

I believe our bodies need carbs! I eat whole grains, instead of anything white. I may only have oatmeal, or a slice of whole wheat bread with almond butter for breakfast, or some brown rice/quinoa with dinner, but I am eating some. I think we need them!

Nate291- You have to actually detox it out of your system, eat only natural food for a week, it's rough because your body tends to crave the foods that it "reacts" to but once you do it when you eat sugar you'll actually feel the effect it has on your body and it's much easier to avoid sugar after you know how it really makes you feel.

After discovering that I have several food sensitivities I decided to become more familiar with clean eating. First I made the change from white potatoes to yellow or red, from there I began eating sweet potatoes and now at the suggestion of my trainer every other time I would have made sweet potatoes I make butternut squash, lower in calories and sugar but also lower in protein and fiber. By mixing it up I can get the nutritional benefits of both and my belly definitely feels better.

I am tired of feeling sick and tired....I will certainly need the support of this forum and look forward to all the knowledge there is to obtain...

I don't think the message is to give up healthy carbs like whole grains or brown rice at all. I think the message is to give up the white, sugary, refined carbohydrates.

Recently I have given up white sugary carbs for good. I know the repercussions, if I cave any have something like a cookie, I will eat 5, then I feel like garbage. I'd rather just stay away all together and enjoy some 90% dark chocolate chips or almond butter as a treat because I don't feel like an addict looking for a drug after!

It seems now that the only good carbs are Veggies and Sweet potatoe.(I know she is eating some Quinoa).
I love Tosca and she is been my role model for many years. But it seems like she is going towards Paleo Diet. Not grains, not dairy, and Gluten free?
I hope she will come up with a new book, with all her new recipes.

I eat my Ezekiel bread early in the day and if I'm hungry for carbs later, I have a sweet potato with cinnamon sprinkled on it.

By making raw salads & lean plant proteins (tofu, legumes & tempeh) the focus of my meals. I add a tiny serving of good carbs (pumpkin, sweet potato) to meals so I don't feel deprived of carbs & to keep energy up.

Carbs are not our friends no matter what!!! They look good and usually smell even better and yet taste so great! I make the choice to avoid at all costs; if I have to have a carb, it must be whole wheat/whole grain.

Just joined ECD.com. Looks like a great site. I look forward to joining in the discussion as soon as I get started on the plan. I like the two suggestion so far. I will give them a try.

I replace them with healthy carbs...whole wheat for white, oatmeal for cereal, honey for sugar...there are so many choices that finding a replacement seems quite easy

I just keep them out of the house. Out of site, out of mouth.
