Now I EC, I think of food as fuel. & I think how it will affect my health & energy. I agree with other members in that I reflect on whether this food will bring me closer to my goals. I sometimes still lust after junk but now I make a decision to not give in to those desires. I substitute with clean cheat treats. I also have been recently diagnosed with IBS so I also have to think about whether or not this food will make me sick. I sometimes wonder if my constant planning of meals, cooking etc borders on obsession, but I love to run & train too....so it's gotta be a healthy obsession???

My first thought is: what nutritional values or benefits will my body derive from this food? Is this food nourishing my body, and how? How much of this food does my body actually need ? I always remind myself now to : be thoughtful: mindful eating works best for me!! Thanks Tosca!

I no longer want to "treat" myself with bad food. Once i began listening to my body and understanding what the bad food was doing to my health it didn't seem like to much of a treat anymore. Now a treat is a bigger portion of something good or maybe a bit more "good" carbs! :)

i always ask myself if this will take me closer or further towards my goal?
will this nourish or distress my body?
and above all what is in it and do i want that in my body?
And my attitude is usually one of gratitude for all the good food i CAN eat.

Absolutely, I think the most important lesson is how we view food, its is purely something to nourish our bodies and if you look at it like that then you will want to fill your body with the freshest and most nutricious foods, to make your body feels is best.

I've been eating clean since November, 2010. After years of dieting and regaining whatever amount I lost (and then some), I finally quit. I picked up a Clean Eating magazine and then the book, and began my journey. It really sunk in when I had my doctor run my numbers and my cholesterol was high, my blood pressure was high, and I felt in generally poor health with about 100 pounds to lose.

Clean Eating changed my thinking. Though I wanted to look better, I began eating for my heart, for my lungs, for my kidneys, for my eyesight, etc. I now begin my day by thinking which part of my body have I not focused on enough. If it's my heart, I fit salmon in that day. If it's my eyesight, it's carrots............and so on.

Changing my thinking from outward appearance to my general health, which reflects itself through my outward appearance, was the ticket for me. My blood pressure last checked was 98 over 70 and I've lost 42 pounds! ALL due to Eating Clean and changing my frame of mind.

Eating clean has opened my eyes and enabled me to make the right choices when it comes to food. I have experienced instant changes for better. The energy and confidence it has given me has put me on a path to a new career in fitness. This hold food had on me is no more. I was afraid before now I feel FREE. Eating feels good ! it feels right
