I listen to music that gets me in the right mind space. I also love to read books and dance around my house.

I used to eat, and that never helped of course. Now, I move. I either hit the treadmill or do a workout video. That ALWAYS helps!

It depends on timing and location, but there are a couple ways I pick myself up.

My first tried and true "go-to" is exercise...go for a long run (the more stressed out the longer the run!), do a butt-kicking plyo session, or lift some heavy weights. Exercise has ALWAYS been something that is mine and mine alone, my place of safety and solitude. Exercise is always there for me, never judges me, and always loves me! Can't ask for more than that!

My second "go-to" if exercise is not an option is to follow Julie Andrew's advice from the Sound of Music and "think of a few of my favorite things." Sing Christmas songs (in my head...not out loud!), repeat affirmations such as Tosca's advice that "true test of a woman is when life becomes challenging", or my favorite thoughts of being on Caribbean cruises with my most wonderful husband.
