I have volunteered in the past and I've been looking into new volunteer opportunities. I do agree that it strenghten's your sense of self-worth. It just makes me happy!

I volunteer at my children's school. Over the years I have played a role in many different aspects. I have chaired the parent council, co ordinated the school fun fair, co ordinated a chocolate bar fundraiser, poinsettia fundraiser, and now I co ordinate our schools hot lunch program. At times it can be frustrating work but the rewards are well worth it. My kids see me being an active part of their school life and they love that everyone knows who their mom is!

Lately I've been writing postive reviews for books, products, restaurants, etc that I enjoy on Yelp, Amazon. Also, I write thank you letters and letters of encouragement to people as it comes up. I wrote the parks dept. in my area to thank them for all the work they've done in a local park. I wrote the local pound to thank the workers and volunteers there; and encluded a story with pictures of our little adopted dog. I pick up litter.

I am a Special Education Teacher and work with a wide variety of kids every day. Even though my days are filled with kids (as a mom and a teacher) I continue to volunteer two evenings a week at my church with preschool/kindergarten kids for an exercise/game program. My time with these little ones brighten up my day and brings a smile to my face, no matter how stressful my day has been!

My time is extremely limited, but I still manage to find a few hours to tutor disadvantaged kids in Denver, after school on Fridays. These kids are totally great, and I really love the hours we get to spend together!
