We should get seven to eight hours of sleep each night. How do you ensure you get enough sleep?

I get up at 6am and I get some sort of work out in during the day. I don't ever have caffiene past 9am and most of the time I am ready to fall asleep at 10pm. Recently, I had to set a cut off time for my water. I was waking up at 1am to run to the restroom. I found that if I stop drinking water a little earlier in the evening, I can still sleep through the night. :)

Too funny! I just wrote a blog about this last week...here's a link. It covers 10 tips to healthy sleeping (or sleep hygiene).

I've stopped drinking coffee after 12 noon. This has helped a lot. I have a cup of decaf hot tea very close to bed time. I get up at 5 am to workout, so getting a good night's sleep is very important to having a quality workout and a good day.

Problem is I don't stay asleep.. toss and turn and wake up frequently throughout the night. Ain't middle age great??? haaaaa

Falling asleep is the easy part! I get up for work at 2:30 am and I never manage to get to be before 9-9:30. I start off the week feeling so energetic and then by the end I am a zombie. I have seen articles recently contributing sleep to weight loss and I think about that often when its 8:30 and bed is nowhere in sight.

I was actually prescribed medication for high blood pressure about 9 months ago, which gives me lots of energy during the day, but unfortunately carries into the night and I find it hard to fall asleep at a decent hour (by 10pm for me). It is imperative that I get 8-9 hours of sleep per night, other wise I suffer from migraines as well. I have been prescribed an anti-anxiety/sleep aid for this and it helps out a lot. No more tossing and turning and awakening in the middle of the night, just to fight to go back to sleep! I get plenty of rest now and my blood pressure is even on the LOW END (thanks to exercise and a healthy diet as well!) I am only 32 yrs old, but I feel 18 again! I am no longer tired during the day and even have the energy to do things after work if I want to (even attending a concert or dinner date!)...like I said, almost feel 18 again. But I do these things only occasionally! I'm still over 30! ! LOL gotta pace myself!!! Alot of people are against taking medication, but honestly, it is amazing how much better you feel if you find what is right for you and eat/diet/sleep adequately, your energy can be restored!

Sleep is a huge issue! My mind is always racing. I find that if I don't workout that day or have a productive enough day I cannot sleep.

I try to have a routine before I go to bed - make my lunch, get everything sorted out for the next day on a piece of paper, make a warm cup of milk, take a warm shower, brush my teeth, get into my pjs and get into a nicey warm bed and read for a bit. This helps to calm my mind and help me fall asleep.

Cutting back on the caffeine has also helped a lot!

Falling asleep has always been my issue to be honest with you. Now that I drink more water than I have ever consumed in my lifetime, 8 hours sleep gets disturbed while getting up in the middle of the night. Lucky for me the washroom is close to the bed.

I have gotten way better at falling asleep and sleeping for 8 hours over the last couple of months.

First we made sure that the TV was taken out of the room. White noise is great, not loud noise so I always have the fan on. Before I go to bed I soak in salts to relax and then in bed read some fiction book about vampires or something foolish. Then the best part.....I close my eyes and create dreams of how my life is going to be when I am completely healthy.

How I will dress, places my family and I will go, places my husband and I will go. I create a dream in my mind that takes me through the whole night, even through the crawling over my husband, stumbling around my cat late night trips to the bathroom.

If this doesn't work and that is not very often then the next night I take a melatonine (herb) three or four hours before bed and it does the trick.

good night all.
