My kids inspired me to get healthy. I was not the mother I wanted to be and they needed me to be. At 210 pounds I was in bad mental and physical health and I knew had to do something.
I put my plan into action to live a healthy life and be a positive role model for my girls. I want to teach them that goals are attainable with hard work, commitment and effort. I would change my relationship with food, I would change my attitude about exercise, I would stop making excesses but most of all I would reach my goals by taking my health into my own hands and recommitted myself to my goals every day (good and the bad days alike).

My personal trainer Steve. He encourages me to workout even on days I don't. My colleagues also encourage me. Most of them work out also. We are all over 50 and most in their 60s. Watching Meryl Streep in the movies is also an inspiration. She moves so well.

A combination of my sister and my husband. My husband inspired me by example, he chose to get healthy a year or so before me. My sister did it by giving me Toscas book... which gave me the recipe for success :)

My roommate/boyfriend... When I met him he was into to bodybuilding which sparked my interest. It was difficult at first because I was so over weight. He wasn't eating that healthy either so we started shopping for food together and I would cook. And even now we are eating more fresh fruits and veggies... I even put out a garden.! We live on the first floor of an apartment with patio and the owners gave up permission to have a garden... I have cucumbers, zucchini, and onions. Very excited!

This may sound awful, but one day my dad poked my belly hanging over top of my bikini and asked what "that" was. It made me get my a$$ in gear and start eating a little better & exercising. People require different kinds of motivation and it was his tough love that made me wake up and realize, just because i was 19, tan & blonde, that wasn't going to keep me hot forever. then i subsequently lost 40 lbs & completely changed my lifestyle!

My Mom is going to be 71 yrs. young and she walks about 2mi. every morning with her neighbor, works out with me every morning, tends to her own garden and now wants to start riding a bicycle again! She's always been someone that I've looked up to. She's living proof that by eating right and staying active your capable of anything, I thankful to have such a great role model in my life....

My former student, Nikita, embraced the eat clean lifestyle a few years ago and has never looked so fit and so great. I was able to witness part of her transformation while she was in school and when she graduated, I finally asked her how she did it. Her response was, "Eat clean" and she told me to run out and buy Tosca's books. Well, here I am 10 weeks later, feeling amazing and wishing I had asked her sooner. She continues to be my inspiration and I am forever grateful to her for sharing her secret with me!
