Do you take days to rest in between your workouts? Why or why not?

I go to Zumba twice a week with one day in between. Still getting motivated!

I train 4 days/week whitch allows me to split my body up. So, yes, i do rest between muscle groups.. Weight training breaks the muscle down and rest is needed to repair the tissue, thus toning the muscle.

I have a German Shepherd who reminds me that we need to walk 2-3 miles every day :)

I am active in some way every day. On Wednesday's through to Monday, I will alternate strength training (3 days/week) & cardio (3 days per week). I'll do yoga on Tuesday's as my rest day. We also have some sort of family activity each day - taking my daughter for a walk or going swimming.

I'm still a novice so I have no choice but to rest. I usually have 2 days "off" a week. working on not feeling guilty about it now.

I am at the gym M-F at 5 am either doing a run or weight workout. I use Saturday and Sunday to do active things with the kids. We camp in the summer so we are walking everywhere...biking..and taking the dogs for a walk. I find when I give myself those two days of rest (from exhaustion).. my body performs much better on Monday morning. I still eat normal maybe a little less on the weekend because I am not burning the calories.

I make sure to have at least one rest day a week. I train hard during the week and use the week-ends to rest. I might do some light exercise like walking or gentle biking, but my workouts are better if I give those tired muscles a break.

(Same reply as FB, just registered with you here:)

Whenever my body needs it or I am just plain feeling burnt out. I try and listen to what my body is telling me. It's not about numbers or games or how great I am doing compared to someone else. It's a life commitment. So I rest when I need to. I just turned 36 on Thursday. Some who don't know me well, thought I was 26. Seriously, this lifestyle has taken 10 years off my life. I love it!

It depends on the workout. I rest my legs by not running the day after squats & deadlifts but I only have one complete day of rest per week because I rotate activities.
