What strategies do you use to avoid adding unhealthy foods to your shopping cart?

In addition to what's already been posted, I also rarely venture into the aisle section of the grocery store, unless it's to pick up some staples (whole grain pasta, oatmeal, beans...even then I usually buy those from the bulk bins which are right by the produce.)

Never go hungry! Also, I try not to wander around; get in, get out. Unless I'm in the produce section, I give myself leeway with the vegetables!!

I have three strategies that I use with great success. 1) I never shop when I'm hungry. I always have a snack before I go into the grocery store. 2) I take a list and use it. 3) I leave my kids at home so that I don't have to deal with the additional stress of arguing with teenagers about why they can't have the soda, chips, candy and crap.

My strategies are fairly basic, but I hope someone that hasn't thought of one of them will be helped by seeing what I do.
