Split squat! Talk about a love/hate relationship though. I moan and groan (and curse) when I do them but then looooooove feeling the burn the next day!

I would have to say that lunges kills me with weights.

I just found a great one! I am working with a personal trainer and she had me doing squats with a pendulum lift overhead with two barbell plates or a kettle bell. Man, with the momentum created from the lift, I can go deeper into squats than I expected!

I just looove doing some "surrenders". That's what Jillian calls them! They rock.

I just started working out, but I like doing lunges and squats so far, I am sore and slow moving when it comes to sitting and standing back up but I know this will surely pass. Since I just started, any advice on other excercises?

oooh, quads. I have a love/hate relationship with them ;) I love the squat with heavy bar combined with box jumps. And on a really good day my last set I will finish off with wall sits. 8 squats, 12 box jumps (keeping a squat position) & no rest. Do this 3 x's with 60-120 sec rest between sets. On the last set hold wall sit to failure.

It's difficult to decide which are my favourites! :)) But I personally feel that one must do a variety of exercises to target the quads. One effective exercise for me would be front squats using an olympic barbell. The challenge would be to increase the poundages week after week. As you get stronger, your muscle should grow too.
