Do you have any suggestions for clean peanut-free school lunches and snacks?

My son loves mango. He cuts the grid into the fruit 'half' before packing his lunch and then gets to flip it inside out and naw at it to the skin at school.

My kids love to take tuna and crackers with low fat cheese and veggie sticks. We have a recipe for a peanut butter banana wrap and I just switched out the pb for pea butter. It gets mashed together with the banana and some honey and spread onto a wrap with chopped apples so once it is all put together they can't tell the difference.

My grandsons love hummus and raw vegetables for snacks. They eat it as a snack or side dish with a meal. One of their favorite lunches is a pasta salad made with whole grain pasta and a ton of fresh vegetables.

if almond butter or any of the other nut butters are safe I love this recipe I posted a while back and called celery loaded.

1 tbsp almond butter or perhaps nutella?
3 tbsp oatmeal
hemp seed or sunflower seeds
cut up raisons or figs or dates (very small peices)

combine the above and fill celery sticks... its a great snack and brings out the kid in me!

I don't have kids, but I do make lunch/snacks for my husband & i to take to work-- (he was one of "those kids" who grew up on fast food, boxed/canned/refined garbage food... and gained a liking for all things sugar-coated.) Here are some of my lunchtime/snack staples: lowfat yogurt, lowfat cheese, tahini-free hummus & veggie sticks, whole/fresh fruits, an occasional sugar-free jello and homemade granola.

Lunches are tough, but I usually give the kids the same things I give myself -- leftovers! They both went through little stages where they wanted the garbage the other kids had, but even then I noticed they would say things like "I feel sorry for so-and-so; you should see what he brings for lunch!" with the implication that his parents are not looking after him properly.

So today for lunch my kids have turkey and sweet potatoes, just like me.

Snacks are easy -- fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, homemade granola bars, healthy crackers/toast. My kids have always loved and still love when I make a plate for them of nibblies: baby carrots, grapes, cheese or low-fat cream cheese, crisp bread.
