Since changing to an eat-clean lifestyle I hardly ever get a cold. What I find works for me is taking a high quality of pro-biotic. If I do feel a cold coming on I take more than the recommended dose of echinacea right away for at least 3 days. I follow that with peppermint tea throughout the day and turkey/kale soup.

I'm a trooper I still find it important to exercise even when I don't feel the greatest.

I find that eating plain non-fat yogurt embellished with fruit and toasted wheat germ help me to avoid colds, flu, stomach ailments, etc.

I also take a multi for over 50 active women, alpha-tocopherol E, 81mg aspiren, C/D combo and flax seed oil daily with my breakfast.

I work out with a personal trainer 3x a week. Off days I work out in my home gym with elliptical, lots of work-out DVDs and just about every piece of exercise equipment known to woman ?

I think eating healthy, taking supplements and working out frequently are key to building a solid immune system ???

I used to be one of these people who constantly got colds and was sick. Of course, I weighted 272 pounds and was a complete couch potato! My idea of a great weekend was sleeping until 11 or noon (honestly), eating a HUGE b-fast (usually some ridiculous omelet with lots of cheese), watching tv, playing video games, eating something else ridiculous, move TV and video games, a ridiculous supper (usually a huge pizza, chinese, chips, beer, etc) and MORE TV/video games, stay up till...whenever (while eating snacks and beer)...to repeat on Sunday!!!

I really don't take any supplements (other than glucosamine/condrotin and fish oil for my arthritis) but, since embarking on healthy living and a commitment to exercise (and a significant weight loss)...I VERY rarely get sick! Even when those in my family or at work are struggling with being sick (again)...I don't get it. If, in the unusual instance that I do get sick, I'm usually over it quite quickly and don't get it that bad.

Hmmm...think there might be a link somewhere ? :)

Since I have started taking Vitamin D3 over 2 yrs ago I have only gotten 1 cold!!! I used to get bronchitis EVERY year and it would last for 2 to 3 months! Kept hearing Dr Oz talk about vitamin d and deficiency symptoms and after asking my dr several times he finally checked it and it was at 17!!! normal levels are 25-75..I now take 10,000 IU's a day! When I feel cold symptoms coming on I take an extra 5,000 of vit d, zinc supplement and vitamin c. This is the healthiest I have been in YEARS!! Works great with my kids too!!! Whenever they are getting cold symptoms I give them 2,000 of vitamin d and the next day they are fine.
My sister who introduced me to the Eat Clean diet thought the vitamin d3 was a joke until she was sick one day and I gave her 12,000 of vitamin d3 and the next day she was all better. Made a believer out of her!!!

I haven't contracted a cold in over 8 years, since I started using coconut oil. I usually put a tablespoon in my coffee in the morning, sometimes an additional tablespoon on a piece of whole grain toast with cinnamon if I feel any symptoms coming on. I've done a lot of research on this and am completely convinced this is the reason for my good health.
