I use a journal when I am not losing weight. It helps me focus on the problems. Now, I made an easy chart that keeps track of the items on the Cooler system. I just check a box corresponding to what I eat. Most of the time, I don't eat all of the food because I am satisfied before reaching the last check box. I eat a lot of veggies and discovered how much I love them.
