How do you keep up with your Eat-Clean Diet® lifestyle at company dinners?

I'm recently a vegetarian, but even before that I'd never had a problem finding a veggie option on a menu! Quite often a restaurant will offer crudites or a pita with hummus - I always ask for a whole wheat pita if it's available.

If I have no other options, I'll order a meat dish with veggies and rice or sweet potato, and then ask them to hold the meat! As long as I'm not paying for a Porterhouse steak, it's not the worst deal.

If the dinner is at a restaurant:
I check the menu out on the restaurant website to get a feel for how "safe" their food will be for me (I cannot have gluten) and how easy or challenging it will be to adjust menu items to be clean. Then, I call ahead to be certain the restaurant can accommodate all of my requirements. I find that staying dairy-free while dining out helps a great deal with keeping the calories from butter and cheese out of the equation.

If the dinner is at a conference facility or being catered: I work with the company providing the food, just as if they were a restaurant, to be sure my needs can be accommodated. It is very important to get a contact name so when you arrive you can touch base and be sure everything is in order.

In either case: If for some reason my needs cannot be met, I will eat before I go and spend the dinner focusing my attention on the people around me. In spite of of all my requirements, I have only had to pre-eat one time.

I'm never afraid to ask the chef to make a few alterations to my meal! Things like no dressing, all sauces on the side (or not present at all!), no buttering of items - small changes that can make all the difference!
