7 years ago, I lost 117 pounds with a well-known weight loss program. Unfortunately, I didn't develop habits that would keep the weight off.
During that time, I finished college to become a nurse practitioner. Very stressful! With kids and their homework, homework of my own, it was easy to drive through various fast food drive thru's and not have to clean up much afterward. I was drinking coffee in the morning and 32 oz. diet sodas ALL DAY. I suffered daily headaches, irritability, depression, and anxiety, and irritable bowel-type symptoms.
I gained 100 pounds back. I found my blood pressure elevated and my lipid panel out of sorts. I'm only 37! I refused to let those habits lead me to the inevitable diabetes! And what am I teaching my children? Not to mention, how could I possibly counsel my own patients on diet and exercise when I am obese and unhealthy too? I have to walk the walk!
I have lost 62 pounds and 42 inches. I have so much energy, I exercise daily, I am running and lifting weights. I sleep better, my skin looks amazing and my hair and nails grow like weeds. Yes, everyone notices the weight loss, but my skin, hair and nails get complimented just as much. ...YUCK! They don't even taste the same.
So...it's Clean Eating for me...habits I can continue for the rest of my life...a much healthier, happer life!

My life is changing.. FOR THE BETTER! I have to admit I am surprised at how eating clean and drinking water with a high PH has changed my outlook on life. Whenever I have tried dieting it was done done with a certain amount of shame and frustration. Shame that I had let my body get to the way it has. Frustration because when I would lose a few pounds it would come right back if I ate any kind of sweets. I have not even changed my meals to a completely clean one but I am seeing the results. There is no shame, only excitement. No frustration either. I am now learning to love cooking. All these fresh foods, it is sort of an adventure - thats what I tell my grandson who loves adventures. lol

I LOVE to tell people what I am doing. I have lost almost 40lbs. I have NEVER been able to do this before. It seems a crime not to tell people the "secret" to losing weight and getting healthy when the answer is so simple and right in front of our faces.

I am now teaching my adult children what I wish I knew when they were growing up.My grandchildren are also benefiting from my newfound knowledge. Lets just say I can see the difference in their behavior when they eat clean and then processed food.

The ADVENTURE continues...

My life has changed in many ways, all for the better. I have become healthier and stronger. As I continue down this path, I have a better understanding of the foods that I am eating, combined with how they should be eaten on a given day in order to provide the optimum for my needs that day (based on energy being expended for workouts that day). My confidence in doing what is best for me has also allowed me the courage to make a career change at 44 and walk away from my office job in order to follow my passion of teaching others how to follow this path and reap the rewards as well. Thank you Tosca for taking the initial steps and then sharing your journey and knowledge with the rest of us!
