There is usually some kind of veggie platter on the buffet table. I get a small plate and load it up with raw carrots, cherry tomatoes, and other raw stuff; no dip, though. Add a glass of water and you're all set! You're there to socialize anyway, so enjoy the conversations and relax...no need to stress over staying with your clean eating lifestyle just because you're at a party. And you may even get the chance to discuss the clean eating lifestyle with someone!

Depending on who is hosting I offer to bring something along and make sure it is healthy. Most parties have veggies and salads to munch on so I just avoid the dip and go for the oil and vinegar type dressings. If I am offered a drink I just ask for red wine and drink it slowly to avoid the multiple refills. When I am finished with the wine I fill the glass with water so that I still have a drink in my hand. That way people usually won't ask if you need another drink.

I always eat before I go, and take a healthy snack with me (just in case) and drink water the whole time. Having Celiac really helps keep me stay on track with eating clean because party food is rarely if ever safe for me.
