I like to read right before bed. Unlike television (which I find stimulating) it makes me nice and sleepy. Plus, I get a feeling of accomplishment after reading a good book that you just can't get from TV!

I work out 2 hours before bed so I am exhausted enough to sleep through the night.

Work out hard but not too close to bedtime.
Don't overtrain.
Get to bed early and at the same hour each night.
Have an evening regimen that brings you to sleep mode. Eg. turn off the TV, bathe, get in your jammies, have a cup of herbal tea, read a book ...

Get a system for going to sleep -- concentrate on something you have to think about. Eg. I go over all the countries/ states / continents of the world, starting with "A" ... Australia, Asia, Azerbaijan ... I'm never awake past "E" so I've now begun starting the alphabet at different places.
Another thing is to think of a very good day and relive it in your mind, moment by moment, try to remember exactly what occurred.

Don't think of things that are bothering you or things you have to do.

It is actually now 2.06pm in Singapore! :D That is why most of the time I get to be nearly the first to submit my response to the day's question.:D
I feel that it is easier for me to get a good night's rest if I go to bed at about the same time most nights. To me, rest is important so that I can give it my all at the gym the next morning!! :D
I also take a scoop of casein protein before I go to bed so that my body has 'food' for the rest of the night. :D
