We are not doing anything extra for Earth Day, because every day is Earth Day. We have to live here, and so do our children, grandchildren and so on. We don't want to leave this world such a mess for our great-grandchildren, so we do many things on a daily basis to improve things.

We're blessed to live in a very eco-conscious community, so we don't have to have a car. There are plenty of buses and bike trails. Our community is home to Eco-Cycle, which is a great resource for environmentally friendly practices, in addition to being a top-notch recycling company. We have many thrift and consignment stores, so we rarely ever buy new clothing, furniture, appliances, or exercise equipment. Even our bikes are refurbished classics. We also do most of our cooking for the week on one day, so we reuse containers that foods (like yogurt and salsa) come in several times before recycling them.

I'd like to (one day) be able to afford to live in my own house where I can have solar and/or wind offset much of our energy usage. That is not the case, right now, so we're petitioning our apartment complex to add solar. I don't know if we'll be successful, but if we don't try, we'll never know!

Anyhow...I'm rambling! Have a great day, everyone!
