I started eating clean on January 3, 2011. I have lost 11 pounds and have only 20 more to go. I have never had to lose this much weight before, but nothing works better than clean eating. I have made it a lifestyle, but give in sometimes just once a week. I would like to get to a point when I only have one cheat item once a month. I am working out 5 days a week for an hour. I love the way I am feeling, but my skin and hair are not getting shinier and healthier.

My goal at the start of the month (& for the year) was to eat clean & to kick sugar. Jan 1st I starting reading "Suicide By Sugar" & I am proud to say that I have eaten 100% clean, with no sugar all month now. Today I went for an hour's run, did some chin ups [ok, I did 2 & a half...my goal is 10] & have cooked some no bake protein bars for snacks. So far I am thrilled with my attitude & results for this month. I wish everyone else in the EC community all the best with their resolutions too! You all keep me motivated.

One of my resolutions was to Eat Clean 90% of the days of the year. That means that 36.5 days of the year (or 3 days per month) would include a "cheat" meal. I started to keep track of that and by 15 January due, I already had used 10 days. I quickly realized while the goal was a great one, it was completely unrealistic for me because sometimes due to travel, events, business meetings, etc., I just don't have a 100% clean food choice available and cannot take a cooler. At first, I was really down on myself because of already "failing" to achieve this goal (or well on my way to failure). Then I thought, "What would Tosca say?" I realized she would say something like this: " Do a self-assessment of the situation, set a new and more realistic goal, and get back to Clean Eating one meal at a time!" I made a new goal to not beat myself up if I can't Eat Clean and 100% of the time my next meal/snack needs to be 100% clean.

Interested in any other advice/suggestions you have as well!!! I will be traveling heavily the next 2 months and don't want all my hard work to get undone.

I'm well on my way of making my New Year's resolution (of eating clean and strength training) into a habit for a lifetime....
