I let the kids eat as much as they want on Halloween night. I think it's part of being a kid and I don't want them to feel deprived of that experience. Once they are asleep I put a couple of handfuls of candy in personalized bowls and then throw the rest away!!! Then over the next week they can have a few pieces a day and hopefully it's gone soon. I'm really hoping that this approach teaches them self control and moderation, something I'm still working on learning myself!!!

My younger son will be 16 in a few weeks and I can't believe he and some of his friends actually went out to beg for candy! This may be something that will try to make me stumble, but I will view it as something to make me strong! I'll also have my husband throw a handful in the garbage each day!
