Depends on the workout. I prefer to be alone at the gym because most of my friends like to socialize while working out. They think I am crazy because I prefer to stay focused. Socializing can be distracting.

When I do zumba, I like to be with others because I feel like I am at a party! LOL

I typically prefer to workout alone, just because I'm usually in a time crunch and know I can get it done quicker on my own. But I have found working out with a partner or a group setting is nice as well. I would rather have a partner that knows more than me and can teach me new things! I am always looking to expand my knowledge. I often find it hard in my group of friends to find a partner to commit to it. I could always use the motivation of a partner as well.

I believe there are times when working out alone is therapeutic. However, at this time in my life I am finding it hard to stay committed to a routine so good partners are PRICELESS!

I like to run alone, well with my dog Sophie. But something like Tae Bo--much more motivating with a group of hard core sweating friends!

I always try to workout with a friend. It always helps when you have someone else holding you accountable and pushing you forward.

I normally work out alone, it's amazing how much work you can get done when you don't have to wait to rotate in on a machine or weight bar. There are occassions though when I enjoy working out with my son. He pushes himself very hard and I find that I push myself a little harder when I'm with him. When we do get together, we exchange new exercise ideas to keep our routines fresh and to keep those muscles confused and burning calories!

I prefer to work out (weight train) alone. I can put my ear buds in, turn my music on and really concentrate on my workout. I get too distracted if I try to work out with someone.

Alone! I can do as I please for as long as I want without having to think about another human being... for once in a busy day! It's all about me ~ my family knows not to even had me the phone when I'm working out. It isn't being selfish, it's a healthy response to an otherwise stressful and full-of-people day.

I prefer to work out on my own only because I get into my "zone" and like to be totally focused on what I am doing without any interruptions. I tend to be overly concerned with whoever it is I'm working out and how they are doing and feel like it takes away from my own workout. Then there are days depending on what I'm doing that I do enjoy company for the competitive push. Like climbing the Manitou Incline or doing a really intense hike.

a workout partner helps keep me motivated. there are times after work when i just want to go straight home, but knowing my workout buddy will be waiting for me at the gym helps me push to get there.

I would love someone to workout with. I feel it gives you the inspiration and drive you need to succeed. I get lazy or bored with it when its just me. I have always found encouragement in others.

Well, it definately depends on my mood, time, and motivation level. There are times I have either had a long day at work, have been a bit run down by the family, etc. and I could use the alone time. Then there are those times when I need that workout buddy to help kick my BUTT!!

I like workin gout with a partner. Well at least we set the date either a run or off to the gym. Then we can both go at our own pace. I tend to work out with my daughter or my friend who is also 20 plus years younger. But I can stay pretty close to them. My daughter is training for a 1/2 marathon so this helps me to reach my goal of running a 10k before the year is up.

I prefer to exercise alone (weights & running) because it is my "me" time, to think & clear my head. But I do love the social aspect of group fitness classes too.

Definitely alone.

I usually work out at ~4:30 am and have the privilege of going to my basement to work out. There is no way I am 'preparing' myself for public or a partner at that hour.

It gives me time to concentrate on me and allows for my 100% focus.

I think it depends on my mood. If im feeling confident that day then i don't mind working out with someone. But sometimes i like to just go at it alone. Its very much like cleaning house in my brain, and sometimes if someone else is there it can interupt the process. Plus i don't feel a bit self conscious if im alone. I do like to work out with my husband though, he pushes me and i him the way no one else can.

I work out alone because none of my gf's can keep up. It would be nice though because then you have a spot, which helps me progress.

Alone! I prefer to go at my own pace and challenge myself. When I work out with someone else, I usually fall into their groove and end up not doing as well as I would if I worked out alone. I'm also not a talker! The exception to this is with an excellent personal trainer. But running is best solo for me!

I work out 5 days a week with at least 30 of the most awesome women I have ever know. We are part of a bootcamp that meets every morning in the high school parking lot to sweat and groan together. We also have the bed trainer/nutritionist who has become family.

You don't realise how much you need the support until you try and do it alone. Could not have made it into Oxygen Magazine with out bootcamp. I owe my healthy life style to all of these ladies.

I prefer to work out with a partner - my daughter is my partner and she helps to keep me on track. We go to classes at the gym together and on non-gym days we go jogging with our dogs. On the days I don't feel like getting up and going to the gym or for a jog I know that she is meeting me and I would feel bad letting her down. My dog mopes on non-jog days - its only been since the beginning of June that my dog and I found a love for jogging and already it has become such a big part of both our lives. Too bad he couldn't join me at the gym!!! lol.

I work out with my husband...we motivate each other and find we work out a lot harder when we have someone to be accountable to. My husband developes our training programs and I organize our diet and eating plans...works great!

I prefer to workout alone because I do not like waiting on people to finish a set. I also do not like having to discuss what we plan on doing next., I would rather workout by myself and get my workout completed.

I prefer to work out with a partner, as long as they don't talk alot. The gym is not for socializing.
My current partner is a personal trainer and it's been the best investment I've made. You learn sooo much more that way; you workout harder with more motivation plus you are held accountable to someone, it's not just about you anymore! NO EXCUSES :)
