My personal goal is that I am working on overhauling my diet. I am going to use tips and recipes from the eat clean book. I am looking to have balance and want to be able to let myself have a treat on occasion without freaking out. I have the fitness part down, now it's time to focus on eating healthier.

My goal for this month is to be an example for friends and learn to say NO THANK YOU to bad foods when it's not my 'indulgence day'. I don't call it a 'cheat day' or a 'treat day' because that makes it sound like I'm doing something bad. When I indulge it doesn't mean I go crazy eating a lot of high fat or sugary foods...it just means I'm going to indulge in something I don't usually eat every day. I like to make heathy indulgences too like a cheese fondu with artisan bread but I put out a lot of crudites with it. My other goal is a BIG one. I've made a personal decision to cut out all alcohol too. In the radio business you're always attending one function or other and sometimes it's hard to kick the party bucket. I'm at that age where I really want to make some big changes but it's one step at a time and it's knowing that not everyone is going to encourage you so you have to be your own best friend!!! Plus when people see you making positve changes it inspires them too. When I make a goal I realize it's one step or one choice after another. Just like anything it takes practice...and no matter how strong of a person you are remember you are just human. If you stumble and fall get right back up on that horse because it's not just achieving a goal that makes you successful it's the not giving up part that does.

I actually have two goals for this month....one to introduce more clean eating meal ideas to my family. I have been eating clean for a month and would love to slowly get my family on board. I think my introducing things that they like clean eating version, it will be an easier sell. They like roated veggies...and request it often, so that is a good start. My second goal is to get to 5 pull ups by the end of the month. I would love to set 10, but i don't think that i am physically strong enough. I will start by setting up my pull up bar, i got this weekend, and then start with assisted pull ups until i think that i can achieve pulling up my own weight:)

I just hired an online personal trainer, so since I am paying for assistance, I decided I better have some specific goals. The easiest to measure is reduction of weight and body fat percentage. I am not quite sure how these will correlate, but I want to lose around 13 lbs and get my bodyfat percentage to the 21 - 23% range. Basically both in the low healthy range for my age/height. How I plan to get there? Hard work! Learn the skill of clean eating and timing, and training. I also hope to find encouragement by managing a facebook page I began called Forging Faith and Fitness as I believe if I treat my body like a gift from God I may learn to be more respectful of it ~ http://on.fb.me/forgefaithandfitness

My office break room has a non stop supply of junk food lying around. There is a bowl of low fat Chex Mix out that sometimes I will have some of. The problem is that more than a serving can add up to a lot of calories through the day. I have a goal for the month of November, to stay away from the Chex Mix. I'm writing it on my daily reminder card I keep in my pocket as a constant but silent reminder to stay true to my mini goal.
