kids are grown and moved out but they do observe the changes i have made and are taking notice...\
husband is a different story... he has no interest in nutrition or personal health but has admitted he is proud of me and sees the changes and benefits that clean eating offers...
so it's a split... some times i cook for him... sometimes i cook for me... we alternate eating our leftovers and many nights he is just on his own.. the man won't eat a single vegtable!! well that is not true i have to remember that salsa sauce is all veggies

Since I do the majority of cooking and food shopping - I get to choose what is put on our plates. My husband has been eating clean without really knowing it - but he has lost 15lbs without even trying! My 16 month old daughter also eats clean - we make almost all of her food ourselves. She eats brown rice, quinoa, steel cut oats, greek yogurt w/ fresh fruit, and pretty much whatever we put in front of her.

Luckily, I am a good cook and I also like to try new recipes. Food tasting great is the first key to success!!! I am discovering many of my favorite cookbook authors/chefs, like Ina Garten and Rick Bayless, their recipes are actually pretty clean. The ones that aren't - it's easy to make small adjustments to make them clean.

I'm lucky enough to live with a significant other who also wants to be healthier and lose weight. We have both noticed quite a bit of weight gain over the years and are used to being thin and fit. So he was on board immediately. A friend of ours also lost 100 lbs by eating clean and exercising often so we had the chance to see it work!

My daughter, on the other hand, wants it to taste good and will complain if it looks "gross". As long as it tastes good to her she will eat just about anything!

The real test will be visiting our parents. They aren't the healthiest of eaters!

My family told me that if it tasted good, they'd eat it. Lol! So I make sure it tastes FANTASTIC! And yes, they eat it!

Well we are empty nesters so it has been easy recently for me to just cook what I need to cook for myself and my husbands fends for himself. However, he loves to eat out and I dont know how to say NO yet :) I have just started back on the eat clean diet and working out. This is only day 2 so I will keep you posted :)

The rule at our house is, you have to eat what is put in front of you. If it wasn't good, I wouldn't give it to you. Therefore, being the main shopper and cook, I get to choose what is bought and what is made. The family doesn't usually put up a fuss as it is good for them and good to the taste. I try not to go to wild on them too often, easing them into it. They have been very supportive and do not complain much about not having many " junky treats".

I buy and prepare only clean meals and snacks and tell them if they don't like or want what I'm making, they're on their own (I'm not a servant, after all). Sometimes they will actually shop for/prepare things I am not thrilled with, but more often than not, they're too lazy to rebel and eat what I have so graciously prepared. This strategy has gotten us to the point where my family - though they will still sometimes eat things not on my approval list - not only eats the healthy foods I make, but has begun to completely prefer them (and scoff at the packaged foods others eat). Time, patience, and a complete unwillingness to adjust my food preparation just because someone whines occasionally - it works.

I just wrote about this very thing this morning on my blog. If it's okay, I will post the link here.

I think it all starts with ourselves, we have to step up and say "it's not okay to eat junk just-this-once," because it stays with us, physically and mentally. It's a snowball effect for anyone trying to clean up their diet, saying yes to those french fries just-this-once, usually snowballs into, "oh, I'll start Monday." Start today, clean up your diet and start living! :-D

Once the house is filled with raw foods, and few if any 'cheats' its much easier for us to eat clean and stay on track. Lots of lemons for our water and fresh kale chips that we make ourselves are a couple staples here. Any healthy change, whether it's small or not is better than no change!
