Dear Tosca Reno ~ I have been buying Oxygen Mag for many years now but never had the motivation to Eat Clean. In 2008 I had twins and my weight went up to 255 pounds (give or take a few pounds). Now that my kids are going to be 5 yrs old next month, I can barely keep up with them (they are very athletic) and it's embarrassing also to go to school functions and be so overweight and unhealthy. I am becoming a hermit because of it. Enough is enough. I purchased "The Eat Clean Diet Recharged" and read it 3 times already. As of today, I have been doing this for 4 days. I am excited to change my life and my body not only for myself but for my kids. You are an inspiration to me and I want to thank you. Because of you, my life will be different and I will be leaving my depressed unhealthy self behind. Love you Tosca.

Lauren, <3 <3 <3 !!! Can I also recommend Tosca's book "The Eat-Clean Diet for Family and Kids" to you? It's awesome! I'd also like to recommend Tosca's book, "Your Best Body Now." This book was exceptionally amazing to me, and enabled me to start working out and weight training properly! You can find both of these books on Amazon.com! XOXOXOXO ~K

Dear Tosca, after being diagnosed 30 years ago with hypglycemia, I started my life as a diet queen. Nothing really seemed to work (for long) and together with my weight, my health would fluctuate beyond control. I was on and off the KT for over a year, but it wasn't until I purchased Recharged (thank you Kaptain for insisting I should get it!) that I finally felt understood! You have the same as I do and went through similar situations in life!!! Now almost three years later, my doctor told my I have the health and body of a 30 year old. Not bad for a 47 year old woman!!! And I lost over 25 lbs amd kept it off for over 2 years now!! If it wasn't for you, I would have never believed this was ever possible for me! Thank you for being you, for giving me my life back, for showing me your NEVER too old to take control of your health and body! I hope you will continue inspire me and many generations to come! Love you, Vicky

Dear Tosca, I am 23 years old, but I seem to have been dieting all of my life. I was a quiet, self conscious teen, always a little overweight and lacked any form of confidence. After graduation, I had luck with a low carb diet and then weight watchers but always felt so deprived and depressed. Then one day I stumbled across you and clean eating. Because of you, I have the body I have always dreamed of and walk tall with confidence!! I am finally happy and I have you to thank. You have truly changed my life for the better, given me a lifestyle I love, and shown me that I can enjoy food again. I know times are tough now, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we all believe in you and your vision!!

Tosca and Team: Having been introduced to Eat Clean in 2011...I feel like I've always been fairly informed about the right choices I should be making every day. I'm only now trying to get serious about my commitment - to eating clean and to helping myself to become the best version of me. It's a struggle - but one I know is worth it. I've read cover to cover of a few of the books....with recharged being my current focus. From the first read...I was hooked. You are an incredibly inspiring individual and your positive impact in the lives of so many is undeniable. Life happens and she can be a cruel and heartless beast. As so many of us know, we must carry on through the highs and lows of it all. All the best!

Tosca, I think the thing that most intrigued me about you was your story. It was real, it was what so many of us have gone through (are going through). I keep you and your family and team in my thoughts and prayers. This is more than magazines, books, and brands - it is about a community, a family, and a culture of living to be the best we can be =) Thank you!

Hi Tosca, So happy to read your words in your blog today. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be for you at this time, but if the knowledge that your community supports you fully helps you get closer to the silver lining, then please know that we love you and we cannot wait to see what comes next for you. You have changed so many lives. Noone can take that away from you. You are an inspiration, a role model, a mother figure who stays by our sides as we take our stumbling first steps into clean eating and loving ourselves, until we find our confidence and evolve into powerfully proud sisters in iron. To see you feeling hurt and sad is hard for us. So feel our love when you feel down, and know in your heart that no matter what happens, you have nothing to prove. Your legacy is there in each and every one of us who have embraced your words and your wisdom and who have reclaimed our life as a result. Much Love to you and all your team!! Emmanuelle

Tosca, I have been reading Oxygen for years and have your Eat Clean Books. You are someone I look up to. You are my motivation and my inspiration. I am so sorry for everything you have gone through both last year and this year. I had the extreme honour to meet both you and Robert Kennedy in Victoria, B.C. in November 2011. That just fired me up even more to continue with my clean eating and exercise. I have type 1 diabetes and wear an insulin pump. Because of you and Oxygen magazine, I am the healthiest I have been in my life at 48 years old. Thank you for all you have done for me and for millions of other people. My heart goes out to you. You've proven that you are strong and I know you will get through this.

God has something even better for you :) Looking forward to learning more at the KT and one day meeting you in person. Janet

Dear Tosca, You've given me back some hope! What a gift! So many thousands of people have been strengthened by your story and your books. I hope you can find comfort and encouragement in that. You and your family are in my prayers.

Tosca, I would agree with so much of what has already been shared. I feel like I finally have found habits for myself and my family with which no one can argue. No friend, family member, or doctor is ever going to tell me "stop eating real food and get back to chemicals and processed, quick meals." I have not only lost weight eating clean, I am finding the person I was meant to be all along really was a size 3/4. My family will benefit from our lifestyle choices for the rest of their lives. I have watched friends and myself experience many other benefits...a wart disappearing, shoulder pain gone, blood pressure lowered. Your methods are not rocket science, but you have a voice to which people listen. I look forward to you using that voice once again to show people that the food God gave us was already AWESOME! It doesn't need extra salt, sugar, chemicals, and processing. Blessings, Mylinda

Tosca, I have been eating clean since 2010. It has transformed me, and my life will forever be better due to this healthy lifestyle. I am a physician, and not one day goes by in my office without me directing a patient to your books as a guideline on how to live a healthy life. You have brought a philosophy to the public in an approachable and easy to follow manner that puts health and well-being within reach of anyone if they desire it. Thank you for being the inspiration that you are, and find a way to keep doing what you do best! Love and best wishes...Mary

Well it is three o'clock and I wish I had done more today.  I guess I  dont know what to do with myself.  Did some laundry, gardening, made my appointment for MRI, yay !. Finally got the go ahead from ins . Grr !  Say no more. Made camping reservations for yearly fishing trip. Our first ever camping trip without our daughter.  About thirteen years.  Boo hoo !  That will be very strange !  Husband will be upset because I would still bring along s'mores fixings for her and he naturally benefitted by  that. Lol !  My nieces will take care if him and they use Reese's peanut butter cups. Yum and yuck all at the same time.  We plan for some good eats.  Stuffed peppers, soups, chili, bison burger minis, all comfort foods. It gets chilly up ther at night.  Looking forward to it. It is a very large campground on Lake Ontario.  Lots and lots of walking and bike riding.  Love it !   As for today's food I have been on track.  Wanting to start cooler one but have to use up food items before beginning. Some fruits, hummus, sprouted bread.  My husband will not be able to eat it all and I don't want it to go to waste.  Will start when items are gone and continue until we leave for camping.  Basically my day is not too far from cooler but want to shock the body again and drop whatever will drop off.  Mmm, beef stew is in the crock.  Smells yummy !  Simple !  Ready to eat after walk !    Carrot, celery, potato, onion, green pepper, garlic, mushrooms, spices  and a bit organic low sodium broth.    Decided to track my day on  My Fitness Pal.  I stopped doing this as I became obsessed.  I will post stats later for review.  Cholesterol is a bit over. That  being from 1 whole egg, 1 hard boiled egg, roasted chicken and the stew meat.  Is this a concern ???  There is such mixed thoughts with that.  Calories are at about 1300.   Have a good day all and it is great to see old KTers returning.  Gets us all going...

  • Meeting Tosca (again) at the Olympia, Las Vegas

It’s been less than 48 hours since I got back to Boston from the Olympia in Las Vegas.  I had such an amazing experience but man am I exhausted!   A few months ago I was invited to work the booth at Vitacost.com.  Obviously I had to say yes!  I got to hangout with my best friend, represent the Get In Shape Girl and meet lots of the fitness pros and models I’ve been following for years.   We arrived Wednesday evening to set up the booth.  I cannot even begin to tell you how many boxes of Dymatize samples we unloaded.  See Vitacost.com sells everything from protein supplements to Bob’s Red Mill almond meal to Seventh Generation cleaning supplies.  Obviously we focused on giving away sports nutrition samples from other companies as well as their in-house Aro line.   By the end of Thursday we turned this… Into this… Over the course of the two days of the actual show, I met and chatted with new fitness friends as well as those I’ve known for a while such as…   Amanda Adams Renaldo Gairy Kelsey Byers Crystal Honeycutt from Train Dirty Fitness Danny J from the Sweaty Betties King Kahn Robert Irvine Libby DiBiase Little B Dianna Dahlgren And the Queen, Tosca Reno One thing Tosca said to me really stuck with me and I think it’s important for all of you to hear as well.  First of all, before I get into that, her skin was glowing.  Same as last time I met her.  She literally glows.  (I think you know why.)  In the last year she has lost her husband to cancer, took over his position as CEO only to file bankruptcy three months later.  She is 53 years young, and she has been put through the ringer.  She will openly admit it too.  I commended her on how open and honest she has been about the whole thing and wanted her to know that we all love and support her.  Here is what she told me that really stuck.. She said had her healthy habits not been instilled in her, it could have gotten really ugly.   And that is the thing!  You guys email me and tell me about your stresses and how you handle them.  When you eat clean for long enough, it becomes second nature.  Your body is less likely to reach for comfort food in times of stress.  When you exercise often that is what you do to release!   I love Tosca Reno because she is so honest.  She told me straight up that it’s been really hard for her but that she feels confident now that she, her family and her businesses will prevail.  I swear this is the highlight of my trip!   Tosca and I also chatted about how the bodybuilding and supplement industry can get really carried away.  There’s a pre-workout, an intra-workout, a post-workout, a powder to take before bed, one to take on an empty stomach, a pill to take to get smaller, get bigger, the list goes on.  Some of these things may help, but at the end of the day if you aren’t eating clean, sleeping enough, drinking a ton of water or doing the right workouts none of these things are going to help.   And this brings me to why I chose to work the booth with Vitacost.com.  I didn’t go with them because I love bodybuilding.  As a matter of fact, the entire weekend made me even more secure and happy that I compete in a performance based sport.  But I went with them because they aren’t just magic pills.  Yes, if supplements are what you are into, then they have those.  But Vitacost.com is so much more than that.  They have so many healthy foods like apple cider vinegar, coconut oil and almond butter.   The relationship between the two companies (Vitacost and The Get In Shape Girl) just works.  I have followers who have run marathons, competed in figure, are powerlifters and some of which don’t do any of those things but just want to lose a little body fat and be happy and healthy.  And that’s why I partnered withVitacost because they have what it takes to support all of those goals, not just building muscle or getting ripped.   Now it’s your turn… Do you use any supplements? If so, which ones? If not, have you ever tried any and gotten nothing out of them? Leave a comment below!   Kyra, The Get In Shape Girl   P.S. • Stevia

Hey all! I have been using pure stevia for a few years and have always gotten it from our local health food store. They no longer are carrying the kind I used to buy anymore. It was so pure, you only had to use a little bit to sweeten anything. The new brand they are carrying is not nearly as pure and you have to use half as much just to get it somewhat sweet. I am thinking about just ordering the pure stuff on amazon. anyone know of a good brand you can get on amazon or somewhere online? I just hate this new stuff! not nearly as good. I miss my old stevia :( Thanks! Rachel

  • Good morning :)

Busy with life.  Have not posted daily.   Days getting a bit off as not consuming all five/six meals.  Also running short on groceries.  My daughter came home this weekend for my older sisters 50th birthday party.  Lots of driving but I was glad to have her home and cuddled in her bed. She is such an independent young lady.  I love that and hate it all at the same time, haha.   This brings conversation to college life.  The poor girl has not figured her eating schedule out. She has class from 1:45-7:45 or later each day.  Dinner can not happen if she does not take the college transportation into the city to an open restaurant.  Her local choice is Starbucks and they do not always have a sandwich available.  She has been eating convenience foods and is feeling badly.  Why do they not have a cafeteria for these children ???  Nothing like making life difficult !  Four girls share a mini fridge and that is becoming a huge problem. Can't have a leftover container in there..no room. No room in freezer for pre made foods to heat in micro.  She cannot always eat dairy so yogurt is not always a good option for her protein. She has been eating way too much peanut butter...it is very stressing !!!   College should be about education not about hunting down practical food choices.  Worse part is that it is a culinary school !  Her major is nutrition.  Talk about being hypocritical to her future advocation.  Oh well.  I think I need to re group. Thinking of a quick cooler plan to get things rolling again. Weight stuck. I do realize this will be the norm.  I want to take off a few more pounds. My goal was 155, I am 157/158 currently. I am smaller but want to actually look smaller ?????  Lifting needs to happen !  Only got in a few exercise days last week.  Lawn mowing and gardening slowing down and busy schedule limited walking.  Did get in some dancing..fun...worked hips as they were sore the next day.  Lots of fun.  Friday and Monday were travel days, six hours per day.  as soon as I got home yesterday I put on sneakers and headed for the local park...did about three miles of hills.  Felt good.  I would never be able to drive like that all the time.  Back and leg began to hurt !  And...a confidence booster for me (yay!).  I did the road trip to bring my daughter back to school on my own....big big deal as I have always had husband with me for larger tasks like that.  Yes, I have become dependent after twenty eight years.  Not always a good thing !   For lunch, picked up a healthy Mexican dish and drove to beach to view the ocean on such a beautiful day. Stretched legs a bit and headed home.  Anyways, lots of different things going on.   Still waiting on MRI....thanks to insurance company..really ???
