  • I am a stay at home mom, interested in keeping myself and my family in optimal health.

Strong and focused

I am loving the working out with weights only phase. I am sore and pushing myself and seeing changes. I LOVE seeing a difrence and in only 2.5 weeks. I think my body will do really well with heavy weights.

35 until ECD contest ends. Must remember that is a mini goal and must strive for my very best!

I am on Day 18 of Live Fit and really enjoying it. Also a BIG goal to complete it at my best, a 12 week program.

These goals should bring me closer to the body I am striving for, the one in my head I can see! But I must remember my goals, last night, I let them slip a bit and I had too much chocolate and dried mango (with sugar...) I had too many clean snacks as well, it was just a munchy kind of afternoon and evening. I went to bed and I journaled about it and why. I examined how my body was feeling at that point as well and this morning too, and it was NOT feeling great, salty swollen and upset tummy. I can control this and I need to control it and I will control it. It is within my control.

These things will happen, I am human. My next "cheat" will be next Sunday when my 8 year boy finishes his first 5km race (with me) and my 6 year old boy will complet the last 2km of the 40 he did all of May. We are going out to celebrate.

WOW, I have the power! New day, fresh outlook and sore legs and it is leg day!

Go girly. Yes we are human and we have slips. Great job of picking yourself up and moving on. That is what we all need to do. Just keep moving on. Hugs girly you can do this. Great way to do it. Plan a treat if you need to. Keep up the amazing work. =D

Journaling about it was a great way to assess the why. Things happen, don't beat yourself up for it. Yes, we all have those moments. You're next cheat is planned so keep it clean and active until then. You can still make good choices when you go out. But, if you choose to indulge, go for it! It's not an everyday thing. The longer you do this the easier it is. You do have the power! I also love my weight lifting. Stay strong girl!

So glad I read your post! I "fell off the wagon" at the beginning of the week, while working late. I too ate things I shouldn't have, but I picked myself up and started fresh yesterday, and today I am feeling a lot better, not bloated and tired. I am going to remember the bloated, tired, sad feeling I had when I ate off track, in the hopes that it keeps me moving forward in a "clean" positive direction! Kudos to you!!! :)

  • Terrific Tuesday

Hello KTers.  Well am I happy to say, "I got off my butt and got moving" .  Yesterday yard work of about four plus hours then evening sidewalk walk of approx four miles, flat and gradual terrain.   Today, squats, arms with resistant band, walk of four miles, hilly terrain (the goat road, haha) and stability ball exercises.  Feeling better about moving !   When I can feel my lumps and it prevents me from sleeping, it is definately time to do something and quickly !   Have to tighten up so it does not make me crazy !  Food has been clean other than one pumpkin spice malt ball.  On the right road and plan to go to cooler one after using up a fruit basket.  No fruit on cooler one... have to increase water intake.  My skin is looking so dry and old.  I use coconut oil on my skin and Castile oil for soap and shaving.  Why is this not helping.  Should look moist and pretty not dry and old !  With clean eating, my face has changed.  It looked better plumpier, ugh!  What do you all use for products ???  Do you go clean with them ???  have a great evening all....let food be thy medicine. :).

  • How to Train For Life-Long Results (I guarantee it's not what you think it is!)

For quite some time now I’ve been on a quest to find happiness. Not the kind of happiness that is fleeting. Not the moment of happy where you get a back squat PR, or see a glimmer of an oblique. Not the moment when you finally land at your vacation destination for a week of relaxing. But a life where I can wake up every day feeling fulfilled. Every day I think I get a little closer, but there are certainly set backs along the way. Right now I am definitely in my prime – the days are long and filled with sunshine. My pool is open and I’ve already spent many house sunbathing in my bikini with my pup by my side. It’s easy to wake up with and smile when the sun blares through the window.   I am also doing what I love. I have created such a passion for fitness over the years that I am able to help women find their own passion and build confidence so they can grow to love their bodies as much as I love and appreciate mine. I cannot stress enough the importance of doing what you love and what makes you happy. I could go on about how it is important to find a career you feel passionate about because you will be more successful or how you should spend lots of time with people you enjoy being around and less time around those that you don’t. But my job is to speak about fitness, so I’ll speak on how in fitness and health, you should do what makes you happy. Personally, Crossfit, yoga and the occasional run in the sun make me happy. Maybe that’s not you. Maybe what makes you happy is spin class with your gym bff’s and playing in the yard with your kids. Or maybe you can’t get enough alone time and you enjoy the serenity of swimming laps. Whatever it is that you love, that is what you need to be doing. When you do what you love and what makes you happy, everything will come together naturally. If you have a session scheduled with your trainer and you are still dragging ass to force yourself into that gym, maybe it’s time to you find a Pilates studio to get in the work – or spend some time with your pup taking long walks. If you are continuously forcing yourself into workouts then how do you intend to have success? You aren’t going to stick to it long enough to actually get results. But if you have such a passion for something to the point where you can’t get enough, you will end up with an amazing body without even realizing you put in any effort. I mean seriously, have you checked out Lolo Jones’ or Serena Brooke’s bodies lately? They do what they love, they’re successful and they are ripped! And you know what, maybe you have a yoga class scheduled for the day, but the weather just turned gorgeous and you can’t force yourself to be inside, get outside and run! It’s okay to adjust your schedule sometimes and go with your gut! But if every single day your gut is telling you not to do whatever it is you are doing, don’t do it and find something else that you love. Life is too short to spend it doing things you don’t enjoy or dread doing. Find something you love and feel passionately about and everything else will fall into place. What activity do you have a passion for? Leave me a comment below!   Want a new workout program that WON’T leave you bored and WILL get you results? • Getting back into the rhythm of things!

Hello KT'ers!! It has been so long since I have posted!  Life got a bit crazy, and I just didn't have the time to post an update!  Things are slowing down (a little) around here, but still crazy as always!  I've been trying so hard to keep everything super clean, but there are so many parties and events this time of year, that it's really a challenge.  I have successfully fended off all of the treats my coworkers bring in, but I'm starting to run out of excuses to not eat them!  My one coworker brings in all sorts of "Atkins'-approved" treats, but that have fake sweeteners and all sorts of crap that I can't tolerate going into my body, but I don't know how to tell him nicely that his idea of healthy and my idea of healthy are not the same.  Any suggestions?? I've been indulging a bit too frequently in clean treats as well (clean PB cups!), so I decided today to go back to a Cooler 1 lifestyle for a couple weeks, and just get back into my old, less indulgent ways.  I haven't lost much weight since my last check-in, most likely due to the treats and a shoulder injury that kept me from working out, but I haven't gained anything either.  However, I want to maintain the momentum I had going, so it's back to the wagon I go! How is everyone else doing?  How are you all coping with "pumpkin-and-apple" treat season??   Hope everyone is keeping it clean! ~C

  • I'm getting off track...

Well it is Monday morning.  I have spent the last three weekends on the road to various places. And I have enjoyed the outings. So busy.  Many hours in the car and some meals and snacks of unclean food items.  I am so ready to detox and start fresh !   I made the best choices I was able to and yes, at times, I gave in to full temptation.  This weekend in Vermont the bed and breakfast we stayed at was lovely.  They served breakfast with local fares.  I chose scrambled eggs, steel cut oats and a slice of bacon.  I learned from the first morning of oats not to choose the sweet version, a little too much sweetness for me.  We added salads to our meals and for lunches we split a sandwich and a salad.  A typical meal is far too large.  I suffered from that the first night we had dinner.  It all looks so good you just want to gobble it all up....but then, reality sets in and you realize you over indulged.  Too late...a night of regrets !   I took advantage of not having honey with me, so I got back to coffee and tea without the added tsp.  I figured I owed myself that as I had found that I was consuming other sugared items like fresh breads, caramel popcorn and homemade chocolates. We may have indulged but the positive side to that is that it was all real food.   I saw that our bad habits could certainly reappear.  It has been just a few months from a year that I began to really clean up my diet.  I have had my moments.  I don't want to feel unhappy about the choices I made and in order to successfully not feel that way, I need to make good choices.  Easy, right .  Let's hope :).  It is like if you are traveling it is okay to go off track but the minute you step thru your front door the guilt surfaces. The food affair, lol ,  Suddenly you feel heavy, tired, dehydrated, bumps, lumps and rolls.  One should not put themselves thru that.  So useless.  Many enjoy home baked goods, I feel guilt and that they are bad.   I allowed myself to be lazy and did not take the time to prepare.  Well, I guess that is not entirely true because I did pack grapes and green beans in which I munched on thru the weekend.  Was hopeful of getting in some exercise.  We really did not have the time or know of any convenient locations.  Um, hello, we were in the green mountains, there must have been a place to hike !!!!.  We actually found ourselves lazy and the cooler weather made us seek heat.  Ugh!    Like I always say, the change of seasons always mess me up.  Now, I have to get off my butt and get used to walking by myself again.  Waiting for the snow so I can hike the trails around our home.  I am becoming lazy and my hips butt and legs know it.  I can feel my whole body getting a bit more , sof, I guess that is the word.  Have a great day all and I will be nearing some motivation and some pep talks from you all.  Help me get back on track.  Thank you.   Hey, I just saw that tosca has a new book.  Coming out at year end.  I love her books.  Basically same info but I will prob purchase it anyways.

  • Friday and excited for the weekend...

Yesterday's exercise was putting away the patio furniture.  seems silly however, I was lifting heavy items and I also chose to run from the back yard to the storage barn rather than getting  into the buggy for the ride.  Did this about five times, up and down hills. Probably two miles total.  Fun.  I spent the day watching a friends two year old.  We walked, did squats and jumping jacks and climbed stairs. Non traditional exercising but moving... We will be enjoying a get away weekend in Vermont.  OMG !  We have not been away as a couple in eighteen years.  Finding our life as a couple again. Yikes, :)  Hopeful of some hiking and we plan to shop around.  Brisk weather and the beauty of fall.  Can it get any better ???   Will have to watch my eating as happiness tends to make me want "feel good" foods.  Yikes !   I am packing travel snacks.  My friend gave a beautiful fruit and cheese basket for watching her daughter.  Will bring grapes, apples and a bit cheese.  Will also pick up some kinds bars to tie us over and steer us away from all those fall temptations.  The  B & B we are staying at has a great restaurant with what looks to be a nice clean fare.   Enjoy your our weekend all.  Embrace the beauty of the season and join with family and friends.  Enlighten me please...am I just kidding myself when adding 1 tsp honey to my afternoon green tea...  I'm hopeful of its nutritional impact rather than becoming addicted to the flavor ????????  Is this okay ?

  • Apple Apples Apples

I had a customer generously give me a big box of fresh crab apples from her tree.  I love them but a "box" !  Apple sauce came to mind...so did juice but I quite honestly am too lazy ;) I opened my trusty eat clean books in search of a lazy gal recipe for apples...came across no-cook best ever applesauce.  Washed (Unpeeled), cored and quartered a ton of apples tossed them with lemon juice and distributed cinnamon and nutmeg over them.  Put it in bags and tossed them in the freezer.  Once frozen when you thaw it you can slip off the skin if you choose and simply mash with a fork and you got apple sauce!  My crab apples are small so I didn't bother removing the skin.  I added it to my overnight oats along with some organic unsweetened raisins...one min in the mic and I had a super easy super yummy in season breakfast :) that's the good news...the bad is I have only dealt with about 1/4 of the box :(  anyone have some good apple recipes????
