My Journey:

I had always been athletic, but the ups and downs of the last five years of my life had really taken a toll on my body and soul. At the young age of 20, I battled what seemed like an endless, painful journey through drug addiction. In October 2002, my mother, at the young age of 47, died of breast cancer. Raised in a single-parent household and only 26 years old, my world came crashing down. I felt empty and frightened. My fears kept hold of me and my addiction was at an all-time high. My health was deteriorating at a rapid pace. My face was sallow, and my hair was dull and brittle. I had no energy. Finally, with the help and encouragement of a good friend in Alcoholics Anonymous, I was able to get clean and stay sober.

My life was finally getting back on track. Feeling good and happy with my boyfriend of 6 years, my biological clock was knocking at my door. I had my daughter in April of 2005 and was delighted with the joys of motherhood. However, I gained 48 pounds. In five months, I lost the weight following a healthy Clean Eating plan and plenty of exercise. I was so happy to finally fit into my size 6 jeans again! Then, an unexpected surprise--when my daughter turned six months--I found out I was pregnant again! At the time, after five months of torturing myself at the gym, I must say the tears I cried were both joyful and sorrowful.

During my second pregnancy, I didn't seem as motivated to eat healthy. I wanted to eat everything greasy, salty and fattening. I gained a whopping 54 pounds! Those cheeseburgers and strawberry milkshakes went right to my rear-end and midsection. After giving birth I had 35 pounds to lose. But I was optimistic. I had done it in five months after I had my daughter. With my son it was a different story. I worked out twice a day for six months, but only lost 15 pounds. I was discouraged and couldn't understand why the weight wasn't coming off. I was eating healthier choices, but just wasn't seeing results until I remembered Clean-Eating.

In Oxygen magazine, all these beautiful hardbodies kept referring to Clean Eating. Then I saw an ad for Tosca's book and read her story and became completely inspired. I bought the book that week and read it cover to cover. I loved the principles of Clean Eating. The book had so many informative, easy tips anyone could add to their lifestyle.

The Eat-Clean Diet® book is not just another diet book. It changes lives. I poisoned my body for ten years with narcotics, struggled with depression after my mother died, and had two babies in two years! Clean-Eating has transformed my tired, overweight, dull body to an efficient, energetic, strong, immune-fighting machine. My hair is shiny, my skin radiates health, and my body looks better now than it did in college. I wear a size 0/2 now! I have never been this lean.

Now my motivation is to set a good example for my children: to walk the walk. My children Eat Clean, too. Oh yeah, and if you like food, Clean-Eating is the way to go. I eat every two/three hours to keep my metabolism fired up, and I eat protein with every meal. I eat great-tasting whole grains with sweet melons and berries. Not only does my body look great, my mood is great too! It's all those great fatty acids I get from flaxseed and avocados!

If you want to lose 10 pounds in a week, this is not the book for you. If you want successful long-term weight loss, vibrant skin, and endless energy-- GET THE BOOK. Diet pills only work for a quick fix. If you are reading this--something you are doing probably isn't working, right?

You look absolutely awesome! I have to admit, if it weren't for the tattoo on your arm, you would never know you're the same person! Congratulations!

Way to go! I too am in recovery (17 years) and have been trying to eat-clean for a year now. I've maintained the initial 11 pounds I lost but haven't eaten or exercised consistently. it's the lack of discipline that gets me. I am re-committing to eating clean all the time and exercising diligently. There is no reason I can't have the beautiful lean body that you have! Thanks for sharing your story for inspiration.
