My Journey:
In late 2005 my husband suggested that we try to get into shape, lose weight and gain some muscle tone. At 38 I had never stuck to a diet and had wasted more money on gym memberships than I care to admit. However, I decided to take up his challenge and signed up for a 12 week program which consisted of one-on-one strength training 3 days a week, cardio 3-4 days per week and keeping a food journal. My trainer encouraged me to eat clean, including only lean proteins, complex carbs, and vegetables. I also was to eat 5-6 small meals per day and greatly increase my water intake. What I didn't understand at the time was that I was beginning a new life of clean eating! The results I received in the first few months were incredible. Not only did I go from a size 12 to a size 8, but my energy level and self-confidence was at a lifetime high. I now practice strict clean eating and have been amazed to see how I've leaned up since following the program outlined in Tosca's book. I am a comfortable size 6 and love the look of my toned muscles. I've never felt better!
