Miranda tells Tosca how The Eat-Clean Diet® helped her lose over 100 pounds!

Good morning, Tosca!

I started my weight loss journey four years ago. I weighed in at 230 pounds and had to put my size 22 pants on when they were a little damp so they would stretch. As a single mother of two, I realized something had to change, and it had to be me. I started reading books and websites, and fought hard not to fall victim to gimmicks and promises. Finding the truth in a quick-fix, fast-paced society was very hard. I initially stuck to portion control and just the basic baked or grilled anything. I went up and down in weight trying to find the best plan for myself. I could never commit to exercise. I had just become so lazy, but I had always been. Never in my 24 years had I been small. I have been the “fat girl” all my life.

I sit here writing you today in my size 4/5’s weighing in at 120 pounds!!!!! I made it to my goal. Yeah! It was a long, hard, hungry, frustrating road, but the best choice I ever made for myself by far!

Only now I have a new goal, and that is where you come in. I’ve read your articles, and have now purchased two of your books. I want to transform my body into an amazing machine. You are a wonderful role model. At this point I’m gobbling up any of your information that I can find. I scrutinize exercise plans, trying to get what I need to accomplish the look I want. I had my “Ah-ha” moment after reading your fitness book. “Wow, this is my body, and I can change it and make it look like what I want.” I will admit that I am still intimidated by the gym and all of the people who appear to know how to work every single machine in there!!! I fully intend to “own” this whole process. I have been Eating Clean for over a week now. I can honestly say that I am in love with it. My body feels amazing. My family and friends are having a harder time adjusting to my changes than I am. It’s always, “You’re eating what?” and my favorite, “How much cheese do you want?” My new goal is to get as lean and sculpted as I can. I love beautiful sculpted shoulders and biceps!

I am excited about your kids' cookbook and will be waiting impatiently. I plan to overhaul my kitchen and family’s lifestyle as best I can. I also plan to take you with me every step of the way. I have seen your contest on the website and plan to enter.

Tomorrow is when I begin my lifting routine. I am moving forward to the new slamming me and I am not looking back. My couch will miss me!! I just wanted to thank you for the knowledge and inner strength that you have provided for me. I also dream of telling my story and being able to one day have a column of my own.  Have a great week! I know I will!!

I too have been the fat girl my whole entire life. It's great to see your before and after photo and I plan on using your success to help motivate me into achieving my goal which is 100 lbs by this time next year. It's nice to know that I'm not alone that there really are people out there who truly know what I'm going through. Melissa

Miranda, You look great and you lost your stomach. This is where I have put on the weight and menopause hasn't helped. Thanks for your post. How is the lifting going? Karen

Awesome story!! I can tell you will be a lifelong success and your children will learn good eating habits and benefit as well. As for the others who have left comments, you can do it! Btw Miranda, I love your attitude - I've just decided I will have a great week too, no matter what!

Hi Miranda, I am also a mother of two (boy and girl twins). I also have always been "the fat girl" to many. I have always had a struggle with my weight versus my height. I started Eat Clean last month. So far, I have lost 15 pounds, but I have gained a new found knowledge and appreciation for good, clean, healthy foods. I have quite a way to go to reach my goal of 100 plus pounds. I am well on my way. You are an inspiration. I am very happy for you!

Way to go - thanks for the inspiration!! And as a current gym rat, don't worry - most of us don't know what we're doing most of the time either! Just get in there and try!:)

You should be very proud of yourself...... I am 48 and I work out 5 days a week. I can not get my eating under control. I don't want to eat weird things. Can someone help me get started please? I was looking for sample meals/snacks thinking this would help. Does anyone else have the same issues?
